2017/2018 Budget Request Process Resources

The resources below are provided to assist eligible student organizations in completing their Financial Year 2018 Funding (initial budget) Request. Funds granted from these requests will be available July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

If your organization would like to apply for initial funding for next school year, it must meet the following requirements for its application to be considered by the Student Allocations Board:

  • The organization must have been active for at least two full, consecutive semesters . You meet this requirement if your organization has been continually active since Sept. 30, 2016 or earlier. (Organizations that do not meet this requirement should read about "startup funds" on this page.)
  • External account holding organizations must be in good standing on their external account audits.
  • The person who will submit the organization's budget request MUST take the online Funding Request e-Training and pass the quizzes and exam within it (an overall score of 80% or higher is required).
    • Ideally, this will be the President-elect or Treasurer-elect of the organization for 2017-2018
    • The outgoing President and/or treasurer may take the training if the organization's transition timeline is such that the incoming officers will not be identified in time to make the budget submission.

The guides below are not a substitute for completing the online training module - organizations that do not complete the module (including passing the exam) are not eligible to request funding.

Drop-in help sessions have been scheduled as follows; all sessions are in SC 301:

April 14, 2017 | 3:30PM-4:30PM
During these sessions, CSI staff will be offering in-person assistance with budget request creation. Computers will be available for student use and no RSVP is required - simply drop by. These sessions do not fulfill the training requirement themselves; the online training is required.

Supplemental Funding
Due to changes in the level of funding available this year, the process was delayed while Allocations Board and Funding Oversight Committee examined the issue. The deadline for supplemental requests will be extended. We are in the process of updating the website to reflect these changes. Information will be emailed to org leaders the week of Oct 16-20.
